Hello all
i recently posted that my 09 kia spectra cranks but will not start. All the electronic accessories work and my battery is still good, ive had it tested. Last week it got below 0 for several days and I unfortunately dont have a garage. I assumed that perhaps the fuel line froze. I put some heet product in the gas tank and have been trying to start it with starting fluid to help the heet run through the system. Today i tried again to start it snd it would just crank and after 5-10 seconds just vibrate until i remove tge key from the ignition. I think i may have flooded the engine, but if thats the case would that mean that the fuel line isnt frozen? I need so e ideas on how to get it running again. I did an oul change with good synthetic oil about 1k miles ago. Thanks for any advice!
First of all, the freezing point of gasoline is around -40C (=-40F) which I don't think you got to that temperature so your fuel should not be frozen. Try this: Push your gas pedal all way down and then start the car, if it started, then your guess is correct and you flooded the engine before.
Thanks guys, i tried yaser’s advice and finally got it to start!
In addition to the excellent advice from @yaser, have a read through the FAQ section of this website. You’ll find an excellent article on why a car will crank but not start, and it’ll take you through all the steps on how to diagnose your problem.
Good luck.
