Hi Scotty, I'm looking for a used vehicle to pull a 1400 lb small camper. I travel about 1000 miles per week for work. I'm looking for a Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia or equal and Grand Marquis, Crown Vic or equal because of the V8. I know a Toyota will last the longest but will cost more to purchase. I have about $4k to spend. What other vehicle(s) and amount of miles is acceptable that has a good history that you might suggest? Also is there a Toyota you wouldn't suggest for my situation? Obviously any 4 cylinder and many 6 cylinder engines and tyrannys won't do the job. Trailer is 1400 lbs which includes gear plus 500 - 700 lbs of gear in the towing vehicle and a passenger or 2 occasionally with luggage.
Fully agree with @yaser on this one. You don’t have a lot to spend, hence I’d pick the most reliable Toyota I could find, rather than buying something cheaply made & having to throw parts and/or a transmission at it, in future.
As with any used car, have it thoroughly checked (especially the transmission) by a professional mechanic, before you buy it. Look for vehicles with cosmetic damage but are mechanically sound, to further drive down the price without losing out on longevity.
Good luck!
I would choose the Sequoia since you can get a better deal on that compared to other Toyota models.
