  • Hey! So I was starting my car and warming it up for a bit since it was cold out, out of a sudden my car decided to shut off. Then my battery check light came on. What can the issue be of it shutting off?

Update: after my car turned off I kept turning it on & pressed on the gas, & turned on the ac so air can flow through. Car would have a whistle noise while driving.

We're gonna need to know a few stored codes from the engine light first before we can help you accurately. Please provide them if you can. Is the battery in good condition and fully charged? What about the alternator? If those two things are good, then I would check the fuel system next as the fuel pump may not be running good to keep up with the fuel demand (in other words, a fuel pressure drop is occurring after starting the engine).

As a side note: when having problems keeping your engine running, it's best to have as many accessories off as possible. You do not want to turn on the AC when the engine is already struggling to stay on; it just puts more load on the engine.

Since you mentioned whistling noises, I’d start by checking all hoses for vacuum leaks.

If you don’t find any bad hoses, scan for trouble codes.
