Hey I have a 2011 Nissan Maxima S , one day I left my car running while going to get something to eat , I started driving my car started smoking from the front passenger side somebody told me I had a radiator leak and filled it with water to atleast let me make it home , I didn’t make it home my car stopped 2 minutes away from my home had to get it towed I’m not sure what the problem is I got a new radiator but my mechanic says the radiator has nothing to do with the vehicle starting somebody please help me
No diagnosis given every time I tried to start it he just said loss of compression another mechanic told me it’s just the starter I’m confused on what to do
If the engine has lost compression it almost certainly has a blown head gasket and it's also possible the cylinder head or even the block has warped or cracked cracked if severely overheated. Are you able to perform a compression test to verify the engine's condition? (If you don't have a compression tester many parts stores will loan them out.)
If the starter cranks the engine normally then the starter is not the problem. (You did not specify whether the engine cranks or not.)
There is an entire section of the FAQ devoted to troubleshooting starting problems that you may want to check out.
If the engine overheated you probably blew a head gasket. There may be other internal engine damage depending on how badly it overheated.
Of course the radiator has nothing to do with the engine starting. Since the mechanic had hands on the car to do troubleshooting, was there a diagnosis given?
