so i have a 2011 toyota camry xle 2.5 liter that needs some new brakes. now ive ordered some akebono brake pads, but that begs the question, what brake rotors are the best to get? also is there any other parts of the brakes that im supposed to be ordering to replace, and if so, what do i need, and what brand should i get? this is my first time changing brakes, and ive got a buddy who's a diesel mechanic thats willing to help me, but i wanna make sure i dont use crappy parts and have to do ANOTHER brake job in a couple years.
thanks in advance
This question has been asked here many times, please search the board. (A quick answer is that any leading brand of rotor will be fine.)
yeah but i dont know what any of the leading brands are because ive never had to change out brakes. can you give an example or two? and are there any other parts on the brakes that should be changed out?

Rotors from long-time brake parts sources such as Bendix, Raybestos, Wagner, Bosch, AC Delco, etc. would qualify. I used Centric rotors on my last rear brake job and they've been fine. I usually use Brembo rotors on the front but have used other brands with no problem. You want to avoid cheap economy-line rotors especially from unknown Chinese manufacturers and stay away from eBay and Amazon which are both notorious for counterfeit parts.

Usually other brake hardware is replaced along with the calipers. However you can examine hardware such as clips and caliper slide pins and replace as needed. Obviously you'll also want to check calipers for torn boots or leaks while in there.
