Hey scotty. I have a 2001 mazda miata SE with a mileage of 115,200 miles. A check engine light went on with a code for ignition coil with a miss fire on cylinder 4. The next day i start my car the light was still on and then after buying something from a store, start the car the light was gone. My car start and runs perfectly fine. Is this normal at all? Should i still replace both of my ignition coil? Will the light come back? What your advice thanks.

a code for ignition coil

what's the complete code and definition?

p0304 cylinder 4 misfire detected. I recently replaced all my sparks plug less than a year ago.

Thank you. Please follow the troubleshooting steps for misfire in our FAQ on the main page.

I thought you said there was a trouble code related to the ignition coil?

Im sorry for the confusion. I just assumed it was the ignition coil as it was described in the auto zone report.

I see. Well that's one possible cause, but you should test first. Since the code is only for one cylinder .... if you have multiple coils you can try swapping them around.
