Check Engine Light that 4 mechanics can not solve

Hi Scotty

I have a 2013 Buick Regal gs that has had the check engine light intermittently on for almost a year.  The OBD11 reader would indicate P0137, which is the 02 sensors.  I have replaced both with the appropriate manufacture suggested part and in fact I have changed the one by the catalytic converter twice.  I have also replaced the gas cap and treated my fuel system.  The I had a misfire on cylinder 3 so I replaced all the spark plugs and all the coils.  I have also done a smoke test.  Now ever since I replaced the spark plugs, coils and engine air filter my check engine light is now on all the time.  I am still getting the P0137, but now I am getting P0300.  The dealership has no idea and so far neither do any of the mechanics I have tried.  I work graveyards as a forensic Phlebotomist for law enforcement, so I need a reliable car.  I honestly love my car, but I need to get this issue fixed as my tags expired almost a year ago.

thanks, Barbara Perez

. Check for a exhaust leak. Start from the manifold back to cat outlet. I had a car that threw multiple codes. No one can figure out what was wrong. I found out my rear o2 was bad and it threw phantom/ghost codes for the other o2 including map and cam sensor...Even tho there was no code for the rear it was bad . If you have a scanner graph the upstream and see if it's working properly. It's possible you have a computer problem. First I would start with the fuses. Check fuse 11 and 47 in engine compartment it might be that. Pray it's just a blown fuse or exhaust leak.

Also check the wiring and harness it might have a intermittent short that's hard to detect

Possible Solutions

  • Replace faulty sensor
  • Repair exhaust leak near the rear sensor
  • Check for restriction in catalyst and replace as necessary
  • Repair short, open, or high resistance on o2 signal circuit
