Hello Scotty,

Please advise which car is more reliable, long-lasting, affordable to maintain and has a good gas mileage among Chevrolet Traverse and Mazda CX-9.

Best Regards

The Traverse is a rolling pile of junk, to coin a phrase. The Mazda is far superior.

Thanks for the advise 🙂

I'll usually like American cars over Japanese because of union brainwashing, but the Traverse are really throw away cars. Don't buy one.

Not even a comparison between the 2. Go for the Mazda.

I would go with the Mazda CX-9.  You didn’t say which generation of the CX-9 but I would stick with the 2nd generation (which started with model year 2016):  the 2.5L Skyactiv-G turbocharged I4 mated to the 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission is a solid powertrain combo and has been holding up.

Thanks for the advise 🙂

Mazda hands down. Never buy a Traverse, Acadia, or Enclave, they are rolling piles of junk. Plus Mazda CX-9 is made in Japan which is a bonus.

Mazda by a mile but the Grand Cherokee L seems like a pretty good option also

I wouldn't get either. A cylinder deactivation in a 4-cylinder makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. A 4-cylinder already gives you great gas mileage. Cylinder deactivation in a V8 makes more sense but it's still not a good feature.

The cylinder deactivation is only in the Mazda 2.5L NA I4 and for model year 2018 and newer (certain models and trims), not in the 2.5L turbocharged I4 (which the 2nd Gen CX-9 only has).

Thanks for the advise 🙂

Oh my mistake, I got the motors confused by accident.

No worries, that’s why we got this forum.
