I have a 2010 chevy cobalt. I have a 2 parter question. The first question I have is I live in Oklahoma City and it has been below freezing since Sunday and it will continue to be below freezing this whole next week with a foot of snow. Us Oklahomans are not really used to cold like this. Our cars arent either. What should I do to make sure my car and my moms 2014 ford explorer are good working vehicles when this weather leaves. We can not really drive right now because of the ice and the foot of snow we will be getting.

2nd question I have is. I want to check my pcv valve on my cobalt. I can not find it. I saw a video of a guy who said it was in the manifold and just popped out I also saw a couple videos saying that GM did not use pcv valves in the ecotechs that were in the cobalts and HHRs. If it does not have one is there a comparable component I should check? I have a tiny bit of blowby and I know to start cheap and ease my way up till I can fix it.

1st off  Just check all the basics. Tire tread and tire pressure(when the temp drops more than 10 degrees you lose tire pressure) check the air filter and spark plugs and check for leaks both air leaks and fluids leaks. And when its that cold make sure you keep your fuel topped off because if you run really low on fuel when its that cold its cause problems.

2nd It's most likely getting that blow by because the engine is worn and if it's just a tiny bit it's not worth taking the engine apart just for that. Scottys talked about how awful those cobalts are many times and they're very poorly made so just baby it and look for a better car in the meantime and if anything major goes wrong just get rid of it and find something better like honda or toyota.
