SCOTTY!
I have a 2012 chevy cruze eco 6spd manual. It has 172000 miles. A family member has an 2002 acura rsx type s with 121000 miles on it for sale for $2500. Its also a manual 6spd.
My cruze has small problems that i can fix. The acura needs struts and some dents all other stuff works.
Should i ditch the cruze even if I break even for the acura?
The Acura is a good car, way better than the Cruze. Just make sure your mechanic check it before purchase.
The Acura RSX type S is a decent car, they're getting hard to find. I'm familiar with it because I shopped for one but determined it didn't have enough space for work related tasks. I thought of it as base Honda Civic SI because of the dual overhead cam and disc brakes all around. The type S had the stronger engine- 200HP and a subwoofer mounted in the spare tire. It does have a timing belt, if you buy it not knowing if it's been changed around 100,000 miles, put that 1st on your to-do list. 2006 was the last year they were made and the last of Acura 2 door coupes until the NSX came back. But 'your' RSX is almost 20 years old. Even if it has fewer miles than your Cruz, there are parts that still wear with age. If you have the time, space and money, you could fix the Cruz, work on the RSX at the same time. When the RSX is up to par, sell the Cruz. I wish you success whatever you decide.
The RSX type S maybe be worth something one day, IMHO.
If it were any other 20 year old car, I’d say pass. But with this one, at that price, it could be a deal if it checks out.
Not even a close comparison. The Acura RSX-S is the way better car. I would scrap the Cruze and don’t spend any more money or time on it.
