Hi Scotty ,I'm an older woman looking for a little city car .I don't drive more than 6000 miles a year and was hoping you would say a little Fiat would be okay for my needs,I love their looks. The other car I'm considering is the Chevy Spark. The Fiat would be a couple of years old but I'd be getting a new Spark if I go that route. Either one would be the manual transmission. Thanks and good luck in Tennessee
Please do yourself a favor and do not buy a FIAT. The Spark is probably not much better. The suggestions by JamesEDavis are all worthy of consideration.
Honda Fit, Mazda Miata, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Fiat Spyder 124. Avoid Fiat 500 & Chevy.
Miata is fun to drive, low cost, good reliability, good mileage, low insurance cost, made in Japan so build quality far superior to Mexico, Canada, or US. Fiat Spyder is same car as Miata, built in same factory, same assembly line, just slight cosmetic difference.
Honda Fit is lowest cost and great basic little car (called "Fit" in USA, rest of the world calls it "Jazz"). 2020 last year in USA but still produced for rest of the world, can still find on Honda dealer lot.
Ford Fiesta breaks down a lot, really a lot.
Corolla and Civic cost more, made very cheap and plastic, both have same performance/economy, they're boring and but you feel every bump, hear every noise/sound. Some say they're "reliable", but they break down like everything else.
My wife looked and drove them all before she decided on her beautiful Red Miata.
What about Toyota Yaris (or Aygo if you live in Europe)?
i vote corolla , that miata is a little difficult to get in/out of (my knees dont work lol)
If you have to choose between those two, go for the chevy spark. They are actually Opel. Otherwise, go with either Corolla or Civic.,
