2009 Subaru Impreza Clicking noise when clutch pedal pressed

Hello

Today my car started making a clicking noise when I press down the clutch pedal

Why is this happening and should I be concerned? Maybe there is an issue with the clutch?

I don't mind the sound of the click noise but I'm worried that this click is a sign that damage is being done because it never made this noise. Before today, it just squeaks when I pressed the clutch pedal but now it clicks and squeaks.

Extra info (possibly helpful?). I have noticed that when I drove a manual 2016 Hyundai ILoad, pressing the clutch is much easier than my Subaru, you need less force and changing gear is so easy that there was no resistance putting in gear and changing gear. Compared with my Subaru, the Subaru is stiffer to put it into gear and changing gears. Sometimes I encounter a lot of resistance when changing gear than usual.

When my mother drove my car one time, she told that she needed to press the clutch pedal down harder than her Manual Peugeot 205 she had in the 90s.

Car Details

2009 Subaru Impreza Hatchback, 1.5 Litre Engine, Manual Transmission, It has 116,549km

Got it 3rd hand from a private seller at 108,00km September last year. Had it serviced once at 110,000km.

Help will be much appreciated

thanks

I just want to make clear that a click sound happens just once every time I press the clutch pedal. Not a continuous clicking sound while the clutch pedal is depressed.

Is it still on the original clutch?

Back when I bought the car the previous owner said he never had an issue with it so I think it is the original clutch but I don't know for certain.

Is is the click coming from under the dashboard inside the car? If so it could be wear in the clutch pedal pivot.

I think the sound is coming somewhere around the clutch pedal or from the parts that are connected with the clutch pedal.

Generally, noises produced when disengaging the clutch point to a worn  throw out bearing.  It may be that the clutch pedal linkage just needs a little lubrication, or a bushing may be worn out on the clutch pedal pivot.
