What's good everyone. So me being the owner of my mommas Jeep I decided to have the check engine light diagnosed with a scan tool as its been on for 6 years and code P0420 came up but there's no symptoms tho? I heard that's been a flaw with the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee check engine light stays on... what should I do let it stay illuminated or have someone replace?
Started at 100K miles now has over 165K
Something upstream of the CAT is causing this inefficiency code. It may be running too rich or burning oil. You need to find out what is causing the code first.
Exhaust leak confirmed
Cool, exhaust leaks are relatively cheap to fix @chaseboy4
Yessirrrr dude in Greenville at Redhawk Muffler said he'll fix it for free as I'm havin the exhaust done, resonator and muffler
@chaseboy4 - Happy ending.
(thumbs up)
I'm guessing they don't do emissions where youre from? If not then live with it. Clear the code & see if it comes back. Does she go to the cheapest gas station around? Have her switch stations for a few tanks and see if that does it.
A dishonest mechanic will try to sell you a cat, but as long as the car runs and drives okay you dont need it right now.
Ever since I took ownership I go to the top rated fuel stations and I live in North Carolina which they don't do emissions here. It runs fine no performance issues or drop in fuel economy. Edit: when it came to out of state yes 3 times she went to cheap fuel stations when she owned it
have you tried to delete the code?
I havent but I will tho
So it did come back on plus I get a rotten egg smell if I press the accelerator down good enough so I thought maybe its either that or the o2 Sensors so I bought Cataclean to see if it would turn the light off
