Scotty, I have a 2005 Camry and a 2006 Lexus ES330. I'm finding it more and more difficult to find conventional oil, which I have used in both cars their entire life. The Camry is at 150,000 miles, and the Lexus 90,000. Should I switch to the synthetic blend, or just go full synthetic?
There is no point in using synthetic blend when you can get full synthetic for same price.
These days, full synthetic is not much more expensive than regular oil. Both, Walmart and Amazon have good prices on full synthetic oils.
Should I switch to the synthetic blend, or just go full synthetic?
Full synthetic, it's easily sourced.
Ignore the marketing on the front of the bottle. Labelling like "synthetic" are just lies and buzzwords, and don't mean anything real. Nobody regulates the jingo.
Car manufacturers have made buying oil dead easy for owners. All you have to do is read the BACK of the bottle. What matters is the oil classification (API-SN, API-SP, GF-6, etc.). So just make sure the oil meets or exceeds the specification the manufacturer gave you in the manual. These performance terms have to be certified.
All this is covered in the FAQ on our main page.
Not sure why you're sticking with conventional for so long Go full synthetic
