Have you ever heard the expression, "cooler heads prevail"?

I used that expression speaking to my Russian wife today and then had to explain the meaning of this saying. And being curious as to it's origin, I found this online:

"The expression, 'cooler heads prevail' actually goes back to the early days of auto racing, when water-cooled engines were just getting traction. It was discovered that the engines that managed to not overheat their heads usually won the races. Hence, "cooler heads prevail."

And now you know.

I wonder if the expression “Go blow it out your tailpipe” also comes from racing?😜
