Hi,

why does cooling temperature go up and down? Check engine light is on and i had to replace coolant termostat because check engine code Said so. And the check engine light came on after a few weeks again. And a new code came on and when i Google that code is says Coolant fan control/ short to ground. And that cooling temperature has never Done that thing before and started doing it when the car got a new coolant termostat.

Can you list the code(s) here? Also, the year, make, model, mileage - thank you.

Did you buy an OEM thermostat or an aftermarket Chinesium one?

I didn’t buy the thermostat myself it was an mechanic i know. The thermostat was original one. I told the mechanic about the temperature and he Said not so much about it just that it can be something white temp sending unit. And i was there and watched when he changed the thermostat and i have checked if there is some leaks but i don’t see any. And the car is an 20years old car so he Said it can be something whit that too when the car is so old. And the car gives most every time something new codes and he says that i could sell the car because he says it has electrical issues

Check - temp sending unit, thermostat, water pump, radiator and ALL parts that affect this system.

Yes I agree, and also make sure your cooling fan is working by turning on the A/C. The cooling fans should immediately engage when the A/C is turned on. If it doesn't, then that's your problem.

But where is that temp sending because i told the guy but he didn’t care about it

I would change the temperature sending unit as well.

Was the car overheated before?

But where do i find the temp sending and the mechanic didn’t care so much about it when i Said that

I would first double check the work, especially if the problem appeared after the initial job. If not that then you can go check other issues. Sometime it really just be a loose plug. Mistakes happen.

Start at the Fan. If it does not turn on at all that is most likely whats causing the problem. If it does turn on then check all the other cooling system components. Some questions that might help diagnose the problem are. Is anything leaking? Is it Overheating? Was the thermostat installed correctly? Is there any air in the cooling system? Is the cooling system losing pressure? Is your coolant reservoir filled to its proper level? Best of luck!
