Those 2005 Corollas use a 4-speed automatic transmission so it should shift 3 times until it's in top gear going at 60 mph. Start from a stop and accelerate to highway speeds and count how many times it shifts. If it does shift 3 times, then you have no issue. But, 3000 rpm sounds about right for a 4 speed automatic car - my old Civic with a 4-speed auto used to be around 2800 RPM going 60-ish mph.

sorry i forgot to say it has 5 speed manual transmission.

Ah okay. Have the rpms always been around 3k going 60 mph in 5th gear? Or are you noticing it's higher than normal? As long as it slots into 5th gear, there's nothing to worry about.
