Hey,
I have a 2001 Grand Marquis LS 47k miles and just replaced the intake manifold.
Car no longer starts and if it does run it does for a second or two. I've replaced the ignition coils just to be sure and still have no start. Fuel pump appears to be sending fuel from checking the fuel rail.
Any ideas on what else to check before I swap out all the spark plugs to ensure spark is good?
Test for a bad head gasket, that sweet smell might be coolantdoes start now immediately after posting but exhaust is white smoke and smells sweet.
Thanks for the help!
Just did a test and no blown head gasket, probably just messed up or didnt align the intake manifold gasket.
Going to try it out again tomorrow and see if I can fix it.
Thank you!

Did the ignition coils test as bad? Did you use OEM Parts? If they didn’t test as bad part swapping is the worst way to fix car problems.

Why not pressure test and confirm?

Definitely pull the spark plugs. I would also take a look at your engine air filter, replace as necessary. Additionally I would suggest cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body. See Scotty’s videos for more information.
Hey,
Just to answer the above,
I did use OEM Motorcraft Ignition Coils. I didn't test them as bad but they did get wet when pulling them out so I tried that out.
Fuel Pressure to the engine is good. I measured the pressure and its up to spec. MAF and throttle body were cleaned and air filter is brand new.
Funny enough car does start now immediately after posting but exhaust is white smoke and smells sweet. Intake manifold might not have been seated correctly and is leaking.
I'll link a video shortly.
