My cat started a dry grass fire and melted the steering rack boots

My catalytic converter started a fire on my tall dry grass, it melted a couple of things under my 2008 crown vic.

it melted the fuel pump power wires, as well as a few inches of fuel hose that goes into the fuel filter. I bought some hose and clamps and fixed that, and separated all the melted & shorted wires and patched it up. And replaced the fuse to the fuel pump. Because when I tried starting the car after the fire it shorted it, and the fuel pump will not power on.

I also noticed that it melted off one of the boots on my steering rack. i drove a couple 100 miles with it like this but I'm not sure if it's something I can live with or what can happen in the future.

Would I be able to replace the boot at a mechanic for cheap? Or should I maybe add some grease to the rack and live with it

The boot on the steering is merely a dust shield to keep dust from getting on the rack and then eating up the actual pressure seal that's inside the rack. But it's not that hard to remove the outer tie rod and slide a new boot on
