CV Boot on a Nissan Versa 2018

I took my car to a mechanic to get the Transmission Fluid changed and they said that they noticed that my forward left CV Boot has a leak(a grease leak). They say I should get it taken care of as soon as possible. They want to charge me 350 for parts+labor. (I'm assuming that means they're going to replace the boot).

Should I get it changed?

Is that a good deal?

nah.

And $350 better for the axle and not just a boot.

You don't generally repair the boots. It's not worth it. Just keep driving it.

It will take a while before all the grease escapes, and then for the axle to wear to the point it starts making noise. Then you can replace it.

A CV axle costs $50.

Shop repair rate will be minimum $100. It's not worth it.

It would be cheaper in the long run to replace the boot now. They are serviceable and will keep the axle from failing and making noise or vibrating. 350 sounds like that was to replace the axle. A boot shouldn’t cost that much depending on the labor rate of where you took it
