CVT makes scratching sound when coasting

Hi,

I have a 2015 Honda Accord with the 2.4 and about 30,000 miles on it.  The CVT has recently started making a slight scratching noise when you transition from acceleration to deceleration or vise versa at low speeds, like in a parking lot.  Its pretty faint but its definitely there.  It still drives and accelerates well.  If the radio is on you don't even hear it.

Is this anything to worry about?

Thanks,

BW

I have a older Mitsubishi but I believe we share CVT transmission manufactures I started to receive the same transmission wine at around 70 K I replaced my CVT transmission fluid as it was easier than a Oil change at least for my make and model and removed wine substantially just make sure to religiously change your transmission fluid with OEM or equivalent transmission fluid at 35k mile intervals it might not completely stop the whine but will greatly help and increase the life of CVT as they were not the best quality transmissions ever built

Probably. Scratching means things rubbing together that shouldn't.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it. CVT aren't made to last, and nobody works on them.

At 30k you are due for service though.

Yes, if it did start making a new noise it didn't otherwise.

Did you have the TCM updated? It was a very important update.

Change the fluid (5L of HCF-2 If I'm not mistaken), Update the software and pray that it goes away.

Consider dumping it, repairing a worn-out CVT is going to cost in the mid-$,$$$.
