My dad has been looking for a "new" vehicle for awhile, I just recently turned him off of the 2015-2020 Subaru crosstrek due to reliability issues among prices to fix common problems.
He is now looking to replace his 2008 Nissan Xterra (250k miles) for a 2013-2015 Xterra. I know the earlier Xterra's were decent but what about the newer ones. He is also interested in getting one that has 4 wheel drive. Are their systems any good?
Thanks
Did your dad get the xterra? I am also thinking about getting one and I would love to know ur experience owning one
If the price is right and the mileage is good it maybe a good deal ESPECIALLY if it has a manual transmission.
Scotty actually has a video titled: Here's Why You Need to Buy a Nissan Xterra.
So like most things in life it depends on the situation and both yours and the vehicle year, model and what you want and the amount of $ you have to spend.
The 2005+ Xterras are all the same platform, just with a facelift after 09 and some new tech in 2011. The VQ40 is a very solid engine and the Jatco 5 speed is rock solid as well (coming from someone who owns a Subaru with the Jatco 5 speed). Great cars overall.
The newer years are the same if not better. The truck has the same setup but more tech like stated above me but at the same time the intermix of coolant issue and the timing chain guide noise was pretty much resolved by them so the larger more notorious issues shouldn’t be an issue anymore on the newer versions
*walks in* Ok so what are we....*sees the word "Xterra"*......NOPE. I'm not doing it. I'm NOT doing it. *walks out*
I can tell you that Scotty does NOT think much of Nissans. And as yur dad must know already... the Xterra is a total GAS HOG! Just curious... does yu dad have any special need for that kind of vehicle? Or does he just plain dig it?
@alleyascot
Overall true but depends on the year and model as well.
@alleyascot
He just really likes them power and looks wise and his old one hasnt given him really any problems. He's not super concerned with it being a gas hog.
That’s because the majority of them on the road don’t have any problems 🤦🏻♂️
Is there anything wrong with the old Xterra?
Get the manual transmission, and you should be fine, they stayed the same over the years.
