Do I have a Dead Battery?

My car sat for 6 months in the garage. And the battery is dead when I turned the key and no lights turned on. So I connected the car battery to a car battery not using. And the lights turned on when I turned the key but won't start.

is battery a problem? Or something else?

Does your car crank? and what vehicle are you referring to

With the battery connected, the light turns on and no cranking sound. Just "wing" noise. hard to describe the sound. 2007 Honda civic

Are you SURE the replacement battery is good and fully charged? It could have enough life in it to turn on lights, but not crank. If it is good, often tapping the starter (gently! note hard enough to dent/damage things) will bring the stater to life.

I didn’t replace battery yet. I hooked it to battery been sitting in garage. And it turned the lights on but no crank. If I keep turning Key, everything shuts down again

Well for replacement battery has a full charge and it won't start not have a problem with the burglar alarm system which often has to be reset if you replace the battery

Do I better take it to the shop and get my car checked? or buy a new battery?
My concern is what if it is not due to battery...
