Good Day,
I currently live in Hawaii and have been looking to buy an "Island Beater". I found a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.0L 6-cylinder engine. I checked the fluid levels and the transmission fluid, its all clean and looks good. I drove it around and it drives smooth. Tires have life in them, brakes are good too. The car has 153k miles. The guy selling the car is asking $800, should I continue with the deal or not? Thank you.

Around the island of Hawai’i that’s a great price.

I’m pushing 300k on my 4.0 with just routine maintenance. IMO this was the best engine Chrysler inc. ever made.
I would say for $800, that’s a DEAL! Especially since it still runs down the road.
Those were well made engines. Check for rust though, as mentioned above.
That's cheap. If the body is in good shape and not too rusty, why not?. Must be fun to drive that around your area.
4.0L inline 6-cylinder engine with the Aisin transmission are very durable.
Scotty has said those engines are bulletproof
