Diagnosis of rough idle?

  1. I have a 2001 Ford Taurus station wagon (3L 6 cylinder automatic) with 208,000 miles on it. It's been idling pretty bad for a long time upon startup.  It's better after fully warmed up but still not smooth. I've changed the fuel filter, the air filter, the spark plugs, the ignition coil, the starter, and the EGR valve. I've also cleaned the throttle body and the IAC valve, and have used fuel injector cleaner additives. Nothing has made the rough idle go away and I'm scratching my head at this point. What else could be causing it? Could it be a bad sensor? I'd greatly appreciate your input on this, thanks!

try a compression test. Motor could just be worn out.
