Hey Scotty! I have a 2001 4.3L V6 Chevy s10 and I’ve got some questions that I need help with!
1. So before my truck was a little hesitant to accelerate and I thought it was my old CAT so I went to ace performance in Houston and bought a high flow catalytic converter and expected to see a little louder exhaust sound and no more hesitation. I was wrong. It got quieter and more hesitation than before and according to them my truck is running richer :/... Now I have a compressor that’s on its way out and I was wondering if that could also be a contribute to the hesitation, but I just feel like their “high flow cat” isn’t a high flow. Could you give me some word of advice or what you think I should do in this situation?
Aftermarket cats are a big hit and miss unless you know specifically on that vehicle that "X" brand cat works well. Some model cars only the oem works. Did you hear squealing belts? If not, doubt the ac compressor is loading down that V6 to cause your issue. Does it hesitate with ac off? is so, no on ac for sure. Codes?
pretty much I can’t rev my 4.3 past 4K rpms without the compressor having an extreme Rattling and you can tell metal pieces are flying in it too when I turn it off it still does it and it also screeches sometimes when I’m at a red light. So I’m thinking it’s on it’s way to locking up which isn’t good.
