Scotty im in a dilemma, my 2006 honda accord 4cyl auto is at 180k miles, I'm looking to buy a newer vehicle, my max is $30,000. Im considering a 2017-2018 buick lacrosse AWD premium trim. It has all the storage upfront and room for 2 kids plus a charging port in the backseat . I want AWD because i live in north central Pennsylvania. What should I buy that will last for the next 10yrs 200k miles?

You'll be sorry if you buy the Buick, especially if you expect that kind of life out of it. Your old Honda will probably last longer than that thing.

You'll definitely regret getting that Buick. GM didn't stop making sedans for no reason. They couldn't, or didn't want to compete with Toyota and Honda in that category. They didn't perceive it as profitable. When you have their car manufacturing mentality, it's not profitable. GM makes cars that break constantly and they charge almost the same price for cars made in Mexico, not even the U.S., as Toyota or Honda, and their cars are either American or Japanese made. Toyota and Honda make quality products. GM does not. Toyota and Honda sedans sell very well, so do the Korean makes, surprisingly. It's not that there is no demand, their arrogance and greed caused the segment to be unprofitable to them. GM and Ford dominated the large car market in America.   My '79 Pontiac Catalina is a relic of that era. The old Panther chassis under the Ford LTD/ Crown Victoria was developed in the late 70s as well. They were well made for their time.

Personally, I would go for a newer Camry or go all out and get a new Avalon. The MSRP is only $6,000 beyond what you were willing to pay for a Buick. You get 3-4x the car that you will ever get out of GM. I never was a fan of Toyota styling, it's always been too plain Jane for my taste, but the looks of that new Camry makes me want to buy one sometimes.

Correct me if wrong but isn't Toyota not selling the Avalon anymore in the U.S. market? I mean no 2023 model coming?

Not sure. Haha. The original post mentioned a 2018 Buick, so I assumed they were going new and used. Toyota is apparently dropping the name completely and introducing a vehicle called the Crown in its place.

2022 is the final model year of the Avalon and then it’s discontinued:

Yeah I saw the Crown but the price prediction is higher than what OP wants to pay. But @justin-shepherd I agree in general with your suggestion for Avalon if OP wants to buy used or see if any dealership has any 2022 model left.

Not full size but consider an AWD Toyota Camry; it's pretty roomy. Or maybe buy a suv like the Rav4.

Hold onto your Accord!

I vote for a gently used Lexus GS350 or larger LS430  Rear wheel drive is standard but also available in AWD.  Good luck finding one.

Don’t know about pricing, but this looks interesting...
