I want to know what scan tool you recommend? I'm looking at getting a ford f150 and I want to know what years I should be looking at? I currently have a dodge 2002 that I got from my recently departed father. What do you think about this yr truck?
Clarification: For scan tool, what do you need it to do and what is your budget for the scanner?

Avoid any F150 2018 or newer. They have tons of issues.
Take a look at the Autel scan tools. They have a lot of options to fit whatever you want to spend.
I would look at a 2011-2014 Ford F-150 with the 1st Gen Coyote 5.0L V8 (2014 was the last year of that generation). You can also look at 2015-2017 with the 2nd Gen Coyote 5.0L V8, but my preference is for 2013/2014 model year since it has fewer overall tech than the newer generation F-150s (and therefore less complexity/potential for things breaking), also being near the end of that generation should be the most refined/bugs ironed out. Avoid any from model year 2018 and newer.
For more years to avoid see below:

2013-15 w/ 5.0 V8 and 6 speed tranny. That’s the only F150s to buy.
What are you trying to do with the scan tool? You need to figure that out first. Otherwise, for most people, a basic scan tool is all they need, and for that the Bluedriver is excellent (and works with your smart phone). It is about $100. I would buy direct from Bluedriver to make sure you are getting the latest firmware and not getting scammed (e.g. clones, etc).
