Disability Van for Parents

Hi Scotty,

Love your channel and videos. We are currently looking at a 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L with an automatic transmission. It has 22,000 miles. It is a BraunAbility disability van conversion for my mother who has ALS. There are a few concerns we have, First: should we be worried that it is so low mileage with respect to being used so infrequently? Are there items we likely need to address in particular? Second, the carfax has a mileage discrepancy listed but it is only a few hundred miles difference (21, 800 vs 21,600). I know there can be clerical errors and that carfax is not the final authority.

The original owner had MS, recently passed away and was the only owner of the vehicle. I am having a qualified mechanic check it out to verify mileage and condition, but wanted your thoughts. Most of the disability vans available are Chrysler/Dodge and I would prefer a Toyota or Honda for them.

Thank you very much,

Chase

Scotty has warned that the automatic transmissions are weak on Honda Odyssey vans.

Find a Sienna if possible. although the Odyssey is a Honda product but it has some issues.

Nah I would stay away from 2010 Odysseys because of somewhat weak transmissions. The 2016 Odyssey that my parents have is really good and we have had no issues with ours. If u are looking at like 2010-2012 disability minivans, look at the Sienna.
