93 Volvo 960. 159k miles. Steering rack groaning and leaking. Is it an easy DIY to rebuild it? Is it worth it? Brand new one is $400+ and a reman around 250. I don't think it’s wise to go with a used one as the seals will probably blow again sooner rather than later given the age. A rebuild kit from IPDUSA is 35 bucks.

It's virtually impossible to rebuild one of those by yourself. You need machine shop. You got to clean up the plunger and really those things are 1500 PSI up. You're generally pissing it in the wind if you try to fix it with a kit
