I recently got all 4 new tires on my rwd car. It drives fine with the new tires on. I did the normal let go of the wheel and see if it goes straight test and I'd say its about 95% perfectly straight.
I have heard most people say you need an alignment after new tires but the car seems to drive pretty damn straight as is. So my question is should I get an alignment or will I be wasting my money if I do?
Its usually prudent to align the front end if the tires show uneven wear on the them. But in your case..if its driving true...its probably not required but I ask you this..what did the tire tread of the old front tires look like to you?
agree. The best indicator is the tread wear on the old ones.
@dion Well the old front tires were practically new when I replaced them. The previous owner of the car had installed them and I wanted something different. So treadwear is pretty impossible to tell anything since they have less than 3k miles on them. However the old brake pads definitely had uneven wear.
NOW you threw a wrench into the works here !! okay..I think you will do just fine. If anything your vehicle looks like it OVER Pampered LOL!
Just take care of the brakes and besure to check the rears as well.
brake pad wear is unrelated with alignment.
I guess over pampered is better than neglected. I like to take care of my stuff lol.
I replaced all the brakes right after I bought the car because they were very worn.
If this vehicle is new to you, then you might want to have an alignment done just for peace of mind. Here it only costs $70.
