Late model Dodge Challenger opinions

Hey Scotty,

I know you aren’t the biggest fan of dodge but how would you feel about buying a new Dodge Challenger? Assuming that I bought the 5.7l hemi with the tremec manual either brand new or with very low mileage such as 15k would it be reliable? I wanted to buy a mustang but MT82 just seems too unreliable.

what’s your opinion? Thanks.

How many years and miles do you need it for?

The problem that I have is while the powertrain for the most part is solid the rest of the vehicle’s quality is not up to par (trim pieces, electronics/electrical for example), so it’s a hit or miss making it to 100,000 miles (that you would like to last for).  If it were me, I would lease it.  It all comes down to your level of risk tolerance.  To be honest, we don’t recommend buying the new muscle cars for long term ownership from any of the Big 3, sad but true.

The powertrain is OK....but everything will fall apart around it sadly. They are my favorite muscle car because I love retro designs, but the build quality is absolutely terrible.

I sold my 2014 Challenger R/T after i got misfires at 34k miles...all stock motor. I sold my 2019 Charger R/T after having to get quality issues fixed in the first 5k miles.

I would not recommend purchasing one.

If you think that a Mustang is unreliable wait until you see how unreliable a Challenger is.

@DayWalker roughly a couple years as a daily driver. So let’s assume roughly 100k.
