Dodge Neon 2005 Water Pump

Hello Scotty! I have a 2005 Dodge Neon with a 104,000 Miles. It runs great however, in the last 3 years I’ve had to replace my Water Pump three times. The first time was when I had to fix my head gasket at 67,000 miles back in late 2018 which is part of the procedure the dealership told me. However, in January of 2020, it started to leak and was able to replace it under warranty (mopar part). I had to replace it again back in April because it started to leak again and went to my personal mechanic this time because it was not under warranty anymore with the dealership and my mechanic had a better part and warranty then what the dealership had. Could you tell me why I would need to replace it that often in the past 3 years? Is it the car or, is it the part? The original water pump was perfectly fine until I had to replace it after my head gasket got replaced.

Most likely the parts issue.

That’s what I am thinking too. The original was OEM of course and that was in the neon for 13 years and never leaked prior to the head gasket change. Hopefully the one I was given is a good water pump. Thank you! 🙂

Just try to get a pump with a limited lifetime warranty.  On the bright side, you're now an expert at replacing Dodge Neon water pumps.
