Does being a gentle driver help with longevity for my vehicle?

Scotty-

I have a 2019 Toyota Camry SE 4 cyl.  Like you, I'm convinced Toyotas are one of the better, long-lasting vehicles.  My last car was a 2011 Camry 4 cyl. that I passed along to my son, is still going strong at 190k miles.

A question I've never heard asked is, if you drive a car (meaning my 2019 Camry) gently, not running it hard, doing all the good scheduled maintenance, will it last significantly longer than average? Most of my driving is on the hwy around 70-75 mph with city driving being only 20%. This car is perfect for me and I hope to keep it for many years!

PS- I, too, owned a 1981 Corolla for many flawless years...mine was a Liftback.

Of course if you don't beat a car to death it's going to last longer.

Of course. I can't really think of anything that doesn't last longer when you maintain it and don't abuse it.

That's good. Those sound like ideal conditions for a car.

Stop and go city driving wears down cars the most.

And since you still take it up to a good speed on the highway and get it nice and hot, that will keep the engine and cats nice and clean.

doing all the good scheduled maintenance,

be careful with that, because these days even manufacturer recommended maintenance is often not good enough , and can lead to premature failure.

Change ALL the fluids like transmission, driveline, coolant, etc.

Don't go trying any 15,000 mile oil change intervals.

Road conditions matter too. Supposed you live and regularly drive in areas with bumpy and pitted roads, then your cars suspension components won’t last as long compared to driving on purely smooth roads.
