Hi Scotty, I just wanted to know out of pure curiosity if double-clutching really does have any benefits to the transmission of the car? I heard people making claims about it increasing the lifespan of the transmission but I'm not sure if that's true or necessary in a fairly modern vehicle. Thanks again
Nope. they have syncros so you don't have to double clutch. Can do more harm than good.
If you don't mind. Could you go in a little bit more detail to what damages could occur from doing it?
Double clutching will wear out your clutch quicker from more clutch cycles. I've tried it and grinding gears is no fun. Not worth it, imho.
Double clutching means you are activating the engage/disengage cycle of the pressure plate twice as much as is necessary. This also puts twice as much wear on your throw out bearing as well as the hydraulic linkage. As @toyotagrl pointed out, it is unnecessary.
