Another query regarding my Toyota Innova 2011 automatic transmission with 370 thousand KM on it.
Ive noticed that the car is running fine if I don’t switch on the AC. But as soon as I switch on the AC the engine feels heavy and the car becomes a bit louder and begins to vibrate a lil.
And the steering wheel also gets a lil stiff.I’ve mentioned about my stiff steering wheel in my previous queries. But now I’ve noticed that it only becomes a lil hard to turn when the AC is working.
What are the possible issues?
one thing that is possible is that you have a vacuum leak, because i believe, and i could be wrong, but your ac uses pulls vacuum when its turned on, so if you have a slight vacuum leak, it will be amplified when the ac starts pulling vacuum. also the ac pulls a significant amount of current, so if alternator or battery are not giving full power then ac could be using the lions share and starving other components. Just a theory worth looking into. I would definitely try scottys cigar vacuum leak detector method.
I would also suspect a failing AC clutch putting too much load on the engine and slowing it down.
