Hello
Is engine oil viscosity depend on the mileage? Or as long as it's not burning any, i should keep the same viscosity?
No. Use the weight oil recommended by the manufacturer for the ambient temperature the vehicle is being operated in.
Thank you
Follow your owner's manual. Pretty much every modern car is designed for one specific weight. Back in the old days, cars used different weight oils based on where you live and the time of year. There were entire sheets in the owners manuals that show temperature graphs and viscosities. Nowadays, they require a specific weight or it will mess with things like variable valve timing and cause unneccessary wear. Don't put heavier oil in your modern car after it accumulates mileage. It will wear out faster. My 1999 Ranger's V6 was designed in the 1980s and the owners manual says 5W-30. That's what I use, even at 274,000 miles.
Thank you so much
If you have a high mileage engine you might consider using a high mileage oil, but still use the recommended viscosity.
Thank you
Stick to the owner's manual and do exactly as it recommends.
I'll do that, thanks
