Hey Scotty! I have a strange problem with my 02 Camry 2.4L with 241,000 miles.
Exhaust smells seem to be coming in through the air vents when the car is at a stop and ONLY in the recirculating mode. Once I put it to outside fresh air, it goes away
I've been to multiple exhaust shops this past year. The last one I went to spent about an hour checking everything from the manifold to the tailpipe for exhaust leaks. They sealed up a couple of leaks and verified there were no more.
Where do you think this smell could be coming from? Do I have a leak in the firewall and not know it? Are there gaskets or seals on the firewall I should be looking at? I'm running out of ideas at this point.
Please let me know,
Thank you!
Well you'd have to have a leak in the firewalls coming through somewhere because research only does air inside the car so somehow it's coming through but there has to be a leak in the exhaust system because all of the exhaust is supposed to go out the back of the tailpipe. Have a mechanic like myself hook a smoke machine up to the car when it's cold, stick it in the exhaust pipe and wherever this leak smoke will come out
@scottykilmer Thank you Scotty!!
