Hey, Scotty! How ya liking Nashville? 😀 😀
I live in Memphis and I bought a
2010 Acura TL SH-AWD Manual with about 85,000 (now) on the odometer
last year. Oil burn seemed decent enough at first (exhaust had plenty of soot), but after changing the oil & filter in Feb, the oil gague is already down to 50% 😲 now in April.
Gonna take it to get looked at. Anything particular I should tell the mechanic? Any advice or knowledge I should have? Know a mechanic here in Memphis that you like?
Hope you and your family are doing great
@DayWalker Wasn't there a class action lawsuit or TSB or something like that issued to these cars?
To clarify, which engine? Also I would make a seperate question that you are looking for a mechanic in Memphis so you can get more precise and accurate responses.
Well I don't know any mechanics in Memphis I don't know anybody in Memphis except the ghost of Elvis. But my advice is to do a wet and dry compression test of the engine you're probably find the piston rings are worn out and it would need rebuilding
Is it the V6? That was part of a lawsuit last year because of defective design;

That generation Acura TL SH-AWD only came with the 3.7L V6 (J37A4), which the lawsuit addresses.
strange to see this about honda engines
"Your vehicle’s engine oil consumption is “excessive” if the oil consumption rate is 1 quart or more every 1,000 miles."
😳
"Acura says the owner's manuals recommend to check the engine oil [level] each time the vehicles are refueled"
Also something that most people would not worry about when buying a Honda product. Now you have to check for gas in the oil too, losing market share for a reason.
