Hey Scotty I have a 2010 F-150 4.9L V8 XLT 4x4 with 300k miles and an automatic transmission the truck won't shift out of first gear and selling it is a no go so should I replace the transmission or do you suggest another course of action

Before even think about replacing the transmission, do a dry and wet compression test on the motor. If the motor still has some life left and you still want to keep the truck, buy a remanufactured transmission. You could go for a junk yard transmission but that's a gamble.
