[Solved] Should I buy this 2013 Honda Civic?

Hi, I have been looking to buy my first car. After many research sessions and asking questions on this forum, I have found this used 2013 Honda Civic for $11,382 from a dealership. It has 139,332 miles on it, 1.8L 4-Cylinder Gas Engine, Automatic 5-Speed, 2 wheel drive - front, and no Accident or Damage Reported. I am planning to do a test drive and get it to a mechanic to get it checked out this week. Do you guys think this deal is worth the price? My budget is around 10k and I am willing to spend a thousand more if the vehicle is worth it. Any advice and recommendations are welcome!

Well, the price is a bit steep but if you buy from a dealership in this market, you end up overpaying.

Over $11K for a nearly 10-year-old Civic that has close to 140K miles? I know the used car market is crazy right now, but dang, I'll have whatever those guys have been smoking!

You might want to check some comparables to see what similar cars are going for in your area. Don't believe a thing the dealer tells you, and don't rely on Carfax for accident status since not all accidents and repairs are reported.

Price - way to high.

Dealership - forget it.

KBB always quote a high price.  The good news is the Civic is a very good choice but as others have said it’s a little overpriced but that’s the market right now and you always pay more from a dealership.  Personally I would trawl places like Craigslist and FB marketplace but I have bought and sold a lot of cars.  Try and source from a private sale, there are still bargains to be had.  Or buy the Civic but make sure you get it thoroughly checked out, do not rely solely on CARFAX. Your idea of getting a mechanic to check it over is very wise.

Thank you everyone for your answers! What would you say the appropriate price for this vehicle be? Also, if I am looking for 2013 Honda Civic in general, what price range should I be expecting? Is it correct to expect the same price as the KBB says? I found several websites saying that the price is fair or even below average, but seems like the price range never meets the expectation here.

I am trying to get a reliable, safe, low maintenance, and good mileage car, where I have found after research that 2013 Honda Civic seems like the best fit for me.

If I was set on buying this vehicle I would expect to pick it up privately for around$8500, but you always pay more at a dealer and with that you probably get more buyer protection so buy it, prices may actually keep going up before they settle back down.  Just get it checked by a mechanic.
