I am looking for a first car that's reliable. My budget is 15,000 or less.
Can I also install blindpsot alerts to both of my windows for the suggested used old model car? I know this exists for Honda directly from 2018 and above
I see someone else mentioned Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Town Car. Two years ago I was looking at econo-boxes to drive to work in the range of $5,000 or less. All I could find were beat up and worn out 4-bangers with super high miles. Then I noticed there were a lot of elderly selling flawless, low mileage (under 100,000 mile) Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars.
So in 2018, I bought a 2004 Grand Marquis LS, fully optioned, dark metallic red, flawless exterior, no rust (it was only used here in the Phoenix area when they visited for the winter) with 76,000 miles on it for $4,000. I am so very happy with this car, what a nice cruiser ride compared to squeezing myself into something smaller. Maintenance has also been super cheap so far. But of course, excellent condition cars like these are easy to find in the Phoenix area because of the no rust issue; it really depends on where you are as to what is on the market in good condition by you.
If you are looking to install aftermarket blind spot, the aftermarket is practically non-existent. Not to say there are none. There is just a shit ton of complications involved. A bit easier if you ever wired in a DDIN screen into a non DDIN car, but still, you will have to have knowledge of wiring and the basic diagram of the car you are planning to buy to install this in. Even after all of this, it's not guaranteed to last long or work very well at all as unlike an integrated system, add ons have to tap into the power supply, and then translate the data, therefore 1-2 seconds slow, you would have already made a turn by then. Not like the integrated almost instant response from the indicator with those that comes with that complex system already. For a 15K budget you can get almost any car you want. Avoid Nissan, Benz, BMW, Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge. Any toyota or honda or crown vics are nice v8 boats lol, just with anything if you don't know what you are looking for have the car checked out by an independent mechanic and if it checks out you good!
Any Toyota Camry and Corolla or Honda Accord and Civic. Also the Crown Vic, Lincoln Town Car, Grand Marquis are solid cars. If your looking for something a little more fun I would recommend a V6 Dodge Charger with low miles and that can be an ok car. Make sure you have a mechanic check it out before you buy any car. I'm not sure about the aftermarket blindspot alerts though.
**avoid camry from 2007-2013
**avoid corolla years 1997 2002-2003, 2009, and 2014
**avoid Honda Accord automatic before 2000's
**avoid Civic 2006, 2012
Otherwise you are correct they are excellent cars
