Scotty, you have been critical of Chrysler minivans even though they were popular for quite a while. Is it safe to say that the Ford Aerostar was the most reliable American minivan of its time? Some people I have known over the course of my life have had Aerostars.
Only Nong Shim shin ramyun for me.
I would take an Astro over Aerostar any day of the week.
@mmj, a friend of mine (now deceased) was an auto parts and supplies jobber servicing shops around a pretty wide area. During the heyday of his business he used an Astro van, purchased used, that he beat mercilessly, loaded down with supplies and driven on bad roads all day long. It was even used to haul 55-gallon drums filled with oil and other fluids. (I drove it myself on his route for a while to keep his business going when he had to have heart surgery.) That little van finally did give up the ghost but not before enduring many years and miles of daily abuse.
I don't know if an Aerostar would hold up very long under those conditions but I doubt it.
I prefer Kirin Ichiban but to each its own. Just because a vehicle is popular doesn't mean it's really a good vehicle in terms of reliability.. If you are strictly speaking for American minivan. Probably the best of it's time. Idk it's an opinion.
The Ford Aerostar (IMO) is in the middle for me. It wasn't a terrible vehicle but I wasn't a fan of it.
