Hey Scotty, I have a 2013 mazdaspeed3, and I have a question about knock retard. Recently I started monitoring my car for knock retard and I’ll get reading from 0-2 every time I drive it, well more like when I rev it, or downshift. However when I push my car hard I don’t get readings at all and Readings never go up when on idle. My question is, are those readings normal? If not then what can cause the knock regard and how can I fix it? I’m not too worried cause they seem like very low readings but then again I don’t wanna be wrong and continue driving my car and sooner or later it starts causing damage to my engine.
The purpose of the knock sensor is to advance or retard timing under different circumstances. Those numbers are low and I wouldn’t be concerned with them.
