what are your thoughts about the 1998 Ford Escort with the 1.4l 75ps motor? Also what are your experiences?
I'm thinking about buying one from a dealer with verifiable 83.000 km ( 51.000 miles). It has got a new waterpump and timing belt.

that is a low mileage car, and with serviced timing belt, water pump oil and filters probably would last for many miles more, car itselfis cheap for maintenance and as I know reliable.. I assuming only that car was standing in one place for some longer period, example at dealer before you bought it, than you could have later problem with wheel bearings, shock absorbers, corroded exhaust, and corrosion on car itself, which happens on any car that stands outside for a longer period.. hope this could help you a bit, all the best ✌
