Hello Scotty,
I’m buying a V10 2003 Ford Excursion with a 2 wheel drive from the marketplace , the truck has 230k miles,
recently the seller had it detailed, then the cluster box died after he posted it and the car was hard to start, I know it’s a problem with heavy duty fords and is an easy fix,
the problem is that when I drove the car it drove very nice but on a higher speed which I’m assuming about 50 MPH(sence the speedometer was dead)
I felt a really mild shift ,the seller dropped the price from 8000 to 6000 because the electric problems that showed up after his post
and I agreed to it but didn’t pick it up .I believe he won’t let me take the truck a mechanic if I need to
the car is very solid and super clean
I’m worried about the shift that I felt,
do you think it might have anything to do with the electric problem, or it might be a bigger problem and I need to either take to a mechanic or leave it
thank you so much
They likely got your under hood fuse box\relays wet when cleaning. It happened on an 01 I had. 03-high voltage fuses are under the dash I believe. Be that as it may, you could end up with a 4K transmission repair/replacement. It could be that it is slipping in and out of overdrive. Turn the overdrive off and see if you notice it. If so, you have your answer....the solution--eehhhh???? With 230K miles on it-you DEFINITELY want a mechanic to check it out. If you entertain the idea that you can take the keys and drive off with years of worriless driving ahead-think again. I currently have an 03 X. I have had an 01,04, 05 and now this one. They are solid trucks but after 19 years, they need work-especially vacuum hoses and break hoses-hell-anything rubber. Father time shows no mercy.

Thank you so much, that’s exactly what I’m thinking
If he does not let you take it to a mechanic, just walk away.
Awesome thank you so much
You're welcome.
If he refuses to pre-purchase inspection, then walk away.
Awesome thank you so much
I'd say run away if the seller refuses to let you have a mechanic check it out.
Thank you so much for helping making my mind
