Hey Scotty, I hope you and your family are in good health. I was wondering if I should look for a V8 or V6 Ford Explorer from the years 1996-2001? Which lasts longer?

V8 but they are a gas hog

A V8 hands down.

The v6 and v8 are almost identical in horsepower. The v6 has issues with head gaskets. V8 is definitely the better engine. The v8 has very restrictive manifolds. Upgrade to a good set of headers and unlock the true horsepower.
