Hi everyone,
My 2022 Ford Edge equipped with a 2.0L Ecoboost engine with 28k miles isn't running right. When I accelerate to merge on the interstate, car seems sluggish getting up to 4k rpms to accelerate to the speed of traffic. It shifts up to 3k rpms and then sits there for a while before finally shifting up to 4k rpms. I think it's either the throttle body, distributor, spark plug wires (or spark plugs), tranny, or a combination thereof. Should I start by cleaning my throttle body and replacing the spark plug wires? Would that help?

Modern engines don't have spark plug wires. Modern engines utilize coil-on-plug technology.
The first sign of trouble is your Check Engine Light will illuminate when codes are stored. If your CEL is illuminated, codes are stored, you can go to AutoZone to have it scanned.
There isn’t any check engine lights on
That's pretty meaningless. Problems have to get to a certain level before the check engine light turns on and you can develop symptoms before that happens. There could be pending codes, and an analysis of live data might provide some answers as to what's going on.
At a couple of years old and 28K miles your spark plugs should be fine unless there is some kind of problem affecting them, and while it should not be necessary to clean your throttle body and MAF sensor at such low mileage it's cheap and easy to try. Just be sure to use the right kind of cleaners to avoid damage. (Don't use regular parts cleaner.)
That’s what is weird.. There isn’t any check engine lights on, even though it shouldn’t hesitate
Get a scan tool, select live data and see what's going on. My 1999 Ranger started idling funky two years ago, and it didn't trip the check engine light. When I got into live data, the long-term fuel trim (LTFT) was -15% (running pretty rich). It will not trip codes until the fuel trims are more than +/-20% of perfect, likewise for most other codes.
I bought a can of Royal Purple fuel system cleaner and dumped it in at the half-tank mark and now it idles between -3% and -5%. The truck has almost 300k miles on it, and they're the original fuel injectors.
Hi everyone,
I got this problem fixed. When at the dealer for an unrelated issue, I had them help me diagnose the problem. The dealer said that the engine air filter was clogged, even though the engine air filter was replaced at 20k miles and the air filter had less than 10k miles and 9 months old. Nevertheless, that they replaced it.
@fishingandcarsenthusiast123 Thanks for letting us know - this is why it's always best to check the usual suspects first.
Why would my engine air filter be shot after 10,000 miles (the air filter, prior to this week, was changed 10,000 miles ago/nine months ago) ?
