Ford Super Duty Recall 21B03 NUMBER ONE PLANETARY AND RING GEAR ASSEMBLY

Hi Scotty, we live in an RV full-time, and travel around the country. Our new 2020 Ford F450 truck has a major recall on the transmission. We are very concerned, as this is our primary vehicle for pulling our mobile house around the country. We have contacted Ford dealers, and they are unable to perform this type of correction. They have stated this is way over our abilities at our dealership. The outcome of not getting this repair done is possibly losing forward and reverse gears.

Thoughts on how concerned we should be, or how to get this issue recall resolved?

Did you check the NHTSA website to make sure that the recall is legit? If so, call the HQ ford.

If it’s a legit recall it need to be fixed ASAP. Gosh I have such a love/hate relationship with Ford. I HATE that they have given up on customer service completely and holding themselves accountable for mistakes they make. What I’d do is exactly what @yaser said, make sure the recall is 100% then contact Ford and figure out where you can go to get this recall done. Doesn’t surprise me the dealership won’t touch it since they really don’t have the equipment to work on those rigs.

Ford dealers confirmed it is a legit recall. However, removing the planetary gear is not something dealers want to tackle. Nor do I want to be the first they attempt this on.
Ford states they are giving priority to emergency vehicles first.

Typical Ford non existent customer service. @davecip. Sorry this happened you my friend. If your local dealer can’t take care of it. Ford should be towing that thing somewhere where it can be fixed and make things right.
