Hey Scotty, I’m looking at a 2016 Taurus Police interceptor with 125,000 miles as a first car. I know the water pump on these engines are a weak point, are there any precautions I can take to make sure it lasts as long as possible?, and what are some signs of a bad water pump? Thank you

You're buying a used cop car, you have to look at literally EVERYTHING. You absolutely MUST test drive it because police cars are driven the heck out of. Also have a mechanic look it over and do a compression test on the engine. Signs of a water pump failing are the vehicle overheating, coolant leaking, a corroded water pump and a whining noise.
